  There is an old saying about lining one’s pockets while leading others on, and the legal profession is perhaps one of the most common areas where it is found, other than the somewhat disreputable enterprise of selling used cars where anything goes. While you think you have a case, and your lawyer tells you he’ll get you all the money in the world, how much of a winner will you consider yourself to be when you expect to get a 10 K windfall only to have to settle for 5 K, which matches your legal fees? The only one laughing is Mr. Zupancic – all the way to the bank. So what to do? Before you sign the dotted line and waste a whole lot of your time, take your case to an experienced lawyer and have it reviewed to see what your real chances are before you begin the whole process, unless you really want to pay for your lawyer’s new – and really expensive – car. But then again, if you need a second opinion, why get the first one in the first place? Or, in words every wine enthusiast will recognize: if you can get a 1985 Bordeaux for the same price as a 2013 Sonoma Cabernet, you’d be a fool to choose the latter. It’s your money and your case, so choose wisely.
